I have been a rather solitary hunter for years but after meeting some new friends at the local club we teamed up for some hunts since we all have some massive permissions. I took them to a decent spot which produced Civil War buttons, 1800s coins and artifacts from the 1700s on.
They more than returned the favor. Last week Smokey was gracious enough to take us to a super productive site and even turned me on to one of these SLQs, finding a target for me and marking it with her foot. I pulled four silvers from the massive coin spill and had the discipline to leave some for the next hunter who got a Barber half and a Merc a few feet away. I also got four Civil War bullets . Two were wormed and two were dropped.
Yesterday Darryl took us to his permission and I got pretty lucky pulling a KG2, two toasted Half Cents and two old buttons (not pictured). Great hunts with great friends. I am already looking forward to getting the team onto some new ground that opened up when they finished cutting the beans. I have been getting silver and/ or Indian Heads and large cents every hunt but still looking for those old US silvers. Thanks for looking and good luck out there!

It's great when you can share this hobby with like minded people. Sounds like y'all have some awesome ground to hunt.
When that once in a lifetime find happens, I want someone there to share it with me.

I’m a lone wolf myself but I’m going to join the local club in 2018 and this time I’m gonna go.

I joined in 2016 but never went.

It was a blessing to dig with you guys. I met Smokey this past spring and was the guy “Wayne” who dug the 1908 Barber half and the standing liberty quarter 1930 on the other side of the road. Smokey is first class inviting diggers/new friends to her site and it was a blast to dig with you guys as well. I’m glad we all found some nice finds. I finished with 5 silvers; 1908 D Barber half, 1930 S standing liberty quarter, 1925 Mercury Head dime, 1909 Barber dime (lying flat on top of ground), and a 1916 Barber dime. Funny thing Tonmmybuckets, the Barber half I almost passed over target since on my AT MAX the target was only 2 inches depth I thought it was trash, but a solid 91 VDI both directions and clear tone I had to dig and thought for sure I was digging another crushed beer or soda can; to say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Ironically, my first Barber half I dug in VA where I live was a 1908 O. Lesson learned, in a relic and coin rich area dig those shallow signals, or you’ll be passing over the target for someone else to recover. HH

Great finds! I've been hunting 2 1/2 years an have yet to find a 1700's coin but I remain optimistic. Digging with friend(s) is safer and more fun but I'm yet to find any like minded folks in my area.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent.
To find an SLQ is an accomplishment. To find one with a date is quite awesome. You found 2 SLQ's in a single hunt and both of them have dates? Man that is wild!!
Congratulations.

Amazing finds and with some very generous and considerate friends. I mostly hunt alone but, would like to get together with others more often. We can't possibly get all these cool finds out of the dirt ourselves. It is better that a friend finds some cool stuff than it remain hidden for eternity. Solid hunt for ya'll it appears. Well done!:icon_salut:

I am past the point of hunting alone. I have two permissions I can't anyone to, but they are in the people's back lawns. Civil War sites. There, there isn't much danger and people close by. At the one beach/park I go to, there are always people around so no problems. Other than that, I don't go alone anymore.

Great finds! 🙌 Yanno...everyone I've shared some of my spots with (and there's been many since '80), has always shared some of theirs with me. As far as I'm concerned, that's a big part of why this hobby/addiction is so great! 😁

I’m a lone ranger most of the time I did just meet another guy who MD but he has a job that very time consuming, but he’s very very knowledgeable. The problem is I like hunting alone but I know I have to make more of a effort to be around people so I might join a club around here. I join last year but never went.
