Short Hunts produces more Burnsides then I have ever dug!!! Day 2 &3 Updates
Went out this evening for about an hour or so... hunting the edge of a local small battle I have hunted before, same place that produced the Virginia Button... well just as I was heading back. with one .41 cal and a small.. maybe .32 bullet still in the wood I hit a small area and started popping Burnsides out.. dug these but there are still more.. it got too dark to dig.. I'll be back tomorrow!!
Ok.. so went back again.. 4 or 5 more Burnsides, 3 fired .36 pistol rounds.. a dropped .41 and a dropped carved .41!!! ;-) Plus two small iron buckles right in the same area as the burnsides.. not sure if they are related?? This is one tough spot to hunt the stickers bushes are well.. as high as an elephant's eye... the little round brass thing is some sort of locket I think?? Almost looks like it had a tiny key to it and there is some writing on it I have not been able to make out... I'll keep cleaning it and see of I can make out what it says.
I dropped my pinpointer up there some place... so I am going to sharpen the machete.. grab my big pruners and pound the spot with the 12" coil ASAP.. I dug all of this with the 4 x 12 coil... since my whole purpose of going up there was scouting for an old building...
