I used electrolysis recently to take a lump of copper and uncover that it was an 1830's Large Cent like yours, though I could never get a date off of it - the soil had degraded it too far. If you have any suggestions on how I could improve on the condition shown in my post of Oct 06, 2019, 09:38 AM please let me know.

What do you think of the point of view that electrolysis damages the coin? In your 6 images it didn't seem to do damage and it did seem to improve the condition significantly. I can't decide whether I should use it routinely or only in certain situations.
(What I really hope is that I find some more 1800's coins that need cleaning!)
