Two short hunts today at our Colonial site turns up my second Crotal bell and my 29th silver for the year. I found a Crotal bell last year that's identical to this bell I found today. Has stamped on bell pat. Oct. 24 76 May 14 78
At dark almost to the jeep I picked up a 36 Washington. Also picked up a couple flat buttons.
The bell and quarter were only about 30 yds from where the kid and I got the old coppers yesterday.

I think that type attachment on the bell was one that usually was on a collar that included multiple bells. The last bell I got was like that one. They are always fun to find and see if they still ring. It's hard to find anything better than a flat button with the shank still intact. Nice job!

I've been lucky with the 4 Crotal bells I ever found. All of them still had the pea clapper still inside and once they dried out from cleaning all still rang.

I've found 15-20 crotal bells, but none like yours nice find. Always nice pulling a piece of silver and some buttons too.
