silver and a token that have seen better days!

Hey guys, I hit my most recent site today for 2 hrs determined to find a silver coin because I pulled 6 wheats and a ton of cents from 59-64 out of there on previous hunts. I worked the front yard pretty hard in two different directions and dug about 30 cents in clad, this sweet 1977 trans am, and this 19?? roosevelt. I know its silver but its BEAT silver, it was in coal ash which is likely what happened to it. Also this token that says "good for a smile", id be smiling if it was in nicer shape, still cool to find though. The last 2 pics are of my youngest son who asked me to take him to the cornfield the other day,the UNPLOWED cornfield might i add, lol this farmers killing me, i KNOW the goods are just out of my reach because of all the goods I already swiped outta there! all we dug was trash and this 66 washington hes holding, i thought for sure it was a goodie but turned out to just be a 66. He enjoys it and hes only 6, thanks for looking and HH!

am i right in thinking that coal ash would do this to a silver dime?

I don't know the answer to that question, but I hate yards with coal ash. I seem to get tons of false signals from them. You get a decent hit, dig it and it disappears! No where to be found with the detector or a pinpointer.

A token that is 'good for a smile" refers to a pre-Prohibition term - a "smile' was a shot of whiskey. There were variations in the exact measure, but the value at the time was one bit or 12½¢. What else does that token say on it? Can you take a closeup (macro) picture that is straight on?

That dime looks a lot like modern coins I have found in shale ( stone ) parking lots. Also when I clean my clad in a rock tumbler, they look beat up in that way.

its definately not clad, it was down 4-5" in nasty coal ash that was giving me false signals like hot rocks, ill try to take a better pic of that token, Im almost sure its aluminum but its pretty corroded
