Went out today and dug this on the very first hole. Was in an area where dirt had been pushed over an embankment. I think this may be one of the best coins I have ever dug. Ive dug a lot of large cents us and colonial but not many old US silvers. I'll take it !
Any guesses on what you think it would grade?

Banner well earned! Congratulations on the amazing silver!

Congrats on the find and the Banner and sorry I missed this before! I am leaning toward it being an Overton 103 but you might double check the Varieties at the link below. The Reverse seems to be different than the Reverse shown for the Overton 103 Variety, so if the coin does not match the Obverse and Reverse for each Variety shown, then it is possible it is unknown and could possibly be a new Variety or a Sub-Variety of one of the Varieties.

So you have to let me borrow that to post as a fake find! :happysmiley:

That's quite the find sir. You just don't see that coin found often... never if you look in my pouch.

Big congrats.

Wow....send it to PCGS. That is a very valuable coin!! Contrat!!.

Never had a coin graded which company is the best? PCGS?

Regardless of the feedback you have been given,, when PCGS grades a coin, it is Gospel. Getting the coin graded and stabbed protects it from future damage and guarantees that it is the real deal.
Good luck with your decision on a very hard to find coin.

Gorgeous find. I’m glad to see it up on banner. Congrats

that looks good flying up on top. Members sure voted that one up quick. Congrats.

Holy crap. Old American silver is so beautiful. Congrats on a great find, and the banner. That coin has AU details easy, probably dropped in January 1807

I just came
Home from work and saw this...... omg

I have to say I am humbled by the comments. Especially from some of my mentors on this forum, some of these folks that I have followed posts on TNET for over twelve years! Thank you!

With a coin of this magnitude , I do think slabbed and graded is the way to go - they may body bag it (environmental damage tag) big deal this is an heirloom coin - it deserves big stage presentation .

You might as well just send me allllll the other cool finds you have ever unearthed....after this amazing coin popped out you will never be happy with any of them ever again. Cool coin man...just frigging cool!

My heart skipped a few beats just seeing the picture...Can't imagine how you felt seeing it come out of the ground! Lordy, Lordy!
Congrats on a once in a life time kind of find!
