Silver Dollar Sign & A Pendant ID? Please...

Hey all,
Found this little sterling silver dollar sign 2" down at a new site today

Also, found this little pendant, about the size of a nickle, anyone have any idea what it represents?
The new site also up'ed a 1898 Barber Quarter for one of my hunting parters, very nice looking coin, he found at about 5" down...
We will definitely be going back to cover more ground...

Good Luck & Happy Hunting~

Nice find Leon, the dollar sign looks like it may have come off a Charm Bracelet.

How do you like the CZ-3D,I am thinking about purchasing one.I've been using a detector with a meter the last twenty years, are the tone sounds really that distinct? How about arm fatique,I get tennis elbow real easy,so I have been using a hip mount.

Great finds,I don't know about age,bit the pendant looks Greek or Roman!

Re: Silver Dollar Sign & A Pendant ID? Please...

Thanks Guys,
About the 3D, I love it. I've only had mine for about 3 weeks, so I'm still trying to get the hang of it.
It seems to be a very sensitive machine, as I have dug several small ( less than a 1/4" in diameter ) items at depths of 8" to 10". I haven't been paying a whole lot of attention to the tones, as I am usually digging only the high-tones, from nickle on up... I 'm sure that at a later date I will go back to the same sites and dig the lower tones.. Although there is a difference in the two mid-tones, I have yet to distinguish them. The machine is fairly light, and pretty well balanced, although as with most detectors, it is a little heavy on the coil end..
The 3D can also be hip mounted, so that should help some...

I think in enhanced mode at newer sites, you may dig a little more trash, but in the long run it has paid off...
Fisher advices you to switch from enhanced mode to salt mode in newer areas,,, but I just can't do it, figuring that as soon as I do, I'll go over one of those gold coins it's supposed to be enhanced to detect, and miss the opportunity...
Good luck & Happy Hunting~

The "Greek" coin/pendant is definitely modern.

Thanks Gunner,,, I don't think it's very old, I was just hoping to figure out if it had any reference to any piticular orginization, or religin. Half the fun of this hobby, for me , is to try and figure out what it is that I have found. This charm/pendant is going to be a tough one I guess. There are no markings, no script, no nothing, and if Buckram don't know what it is, then I'm in trouble ???

That pendant looks like more of a Roman soldier than a Greek representation to me. Just MHO.
