It has been months since finding any kind of silver, but the drought has finally ended, although it is nothing too exciting.

I went back to the nature center that I found the small button yesterday. I forgot to mention that a woman came flying out of the office when she saw me, yelling "Excuse me, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?". I thought to myself "oh well, I guess I won't be hunting here today" I explained that I was looking for old coins and she said, with a sigh of relief "I though you had a weed wacker!!, Have fun and let me know if you find anything cool!"

So I went back along the path to the wooded area that I found the button yesterday and found the 1941 quarter. I almost forgot how nice they look when they pop out of the ground. I walked a little further and found 3 more buttons. One is the same as the one from yesterday, the other is marked "TREELY" and "GILT". There is no gold plating left, of course. The third has some markings but is not readable. I also found some wheaties and another TOOTSIE TOY car. I will post a picure in the approriate thread.(You know which one that is!)

These buttons all date to the mid 1800's, so WHERE ARE THE COINS??? I will be heading back ASAP!

BTW: Any help on the button ID is welcome!

Nice find, you can't beat the sound of a silver coin in the old headphones. Way to Go!

I know what you mean by people asking crazy questions. I told my partner, we should wear those reflective vests and wear hard hats, put some red cones on the ground and start checking for goodies. People would think we were with the town or county looking for who knows what. LOL, Just a thought!

I do have some hard hats and vests. LOL HH, Ringfinder

It probably says TREBLE GILT. I never heard of TREELY GILT.

I concur, it most likely is TREBLE GILT,not TREELY, a silver quarter anytime is a nice find to make a day outside feel a tad more successful. Since there are buttons there that are early 1800's, there just might be a nice "dated" Large Cent waiting for you in that area, let's hope so at least. :)

It may be a "B", but almost definitely a "Y" at the end. "TREBLY *GILT"
