Amazing...you are getting similar results as hunters that go through 18-20 boxes a week. I have three boxes ordered this week...I hope mine are loaded like yours were.

Lol, yeah today's first box kinda surprised me because it was from a different bank I haven't gotten boxes from in a while. So now I have 2 banks giving me good boxes. But I know it may not last very long so I'll just enjoy it as long as it lasts. I have 2 more boxes ordered for later this week from the bank that gave me the two good boxes last month. GL with your 3 boxes this week.

H$H!

great finds, my friend!

Thanks Buff. I have a 5 keeper per box average from my 7 half boxes so far this year but I'm sure that average will likely be going down soon. I remember 2 years ago I started good with 2 or 3 really good half boxes in Jan 2012 and then in Feb 2012 I had 2 great cwr half dollar scores with 60+ keepers each. Then in the next couple of months I had close to a 30 box skunk streak. So Im just gonna enjoy the good hunting while it lasts. :)

An anecdotal theory is that people dump there silver coin collections at the banks to buy christmas presents. So half boxes pickup in the winter. I don't know if it is true but it sounds plausible.

That could explain the better than usual results I tend to get at the beginning of the year....currently and in the past. :dontknow:

Well my last 2 String boxes have been skunks but I have another Dunbar box ordered for next week from the same bank I got the nice 14 keeper Dunbar box earlier this week and hopefully 2 more String boxes from my other p/u bank. I'm 3 for 8 with my half boxes so far this year and I'm sure hoping I can get more boxes like my 3 good ones. I also got $50 in nickels on Friday to search for the wknd.

2/6:
$3.50 loose halves: clad
$500 (String) half box #8: skunk (just a few NIFC)

But I did find another '41 wheat cent (my second this week) and a '69 Canadian dime in another coin counter reject tray which were my best finds of the day.

2/7:
$1.50 loose halves: clad
$50 mwr nickels: '24 buffalo, 3 x '39(P), '40, 3 x '41S, 9 x '46-'59

Well, no silver nickels but I did find my first dated buffalo of the year - a partial date 1924 buffalo. And I was just thinking about my overall goal for the year. I didn't really have any goal at the beginning of the year except to just hope to find as much as I can with the volume I do. But today (2-9) is the 40th day of the year and I've found 48 silver keepers so far this year so my goal now is to try and keep a 1 silver keeper per day average or better (including 35%, 40% & 90% silver) by the end of the year.

Well I found 2 x 40% silver keepers in my String half box today which gives me a total of 50 silver keepers so far this year. And so now I'm 4 for 9 (5 skunks) with half boxes so far this year. I have another String box from the same bank and a Dunbar box from another bank to p/u later this week. I've been getting good boxes from both banks lately so I'm gonna try and start ordering 2 boxes from each bank every week from now on.

2/10:
$11 loose halves: clad
$500 (String) half box #9: 2 x 40% ('66, '67) & several NIFC

That's a very good keeper to skunk ratio. Good luck with the rest of your boxes this week. I'm going to do some dime boxes and two half boxes this week. Happy hunting

Lol, well Idk if I'm doing that good but I've been very lucky with my boxes so far this year. I know my good luck may not last too much longer so I'm just going to enjoy it as long as it lasts. Good luck with your boxes and 2014 goals.

Well I found a '43D silver nickel in my first nickel box of the year. I also found a '95 20 Pence and my first Canadian nickel bullion coin of the year - a '76 ender (obverse I guess). And I found a couple of notable error coins - a '75D off center mistrike & a 2011P grease die error with a barely readable mint mark. I hope to be getting 2 more half boxes on Thursday and maybe more nickels for the wknd.

2/11:
$12.50 customer halves - clad
$100 (Dunbar) nickel box - '40, '40S, 2 x '41 (1 rev ender), 2 x '41S (1 very nice cond.), '43D, 26 x '46-'59 (including 1 x '48S & 1 x '49S)
.......................................'75D off center mistrike, 2011P grease die error, '76 Canadian (ender), '95 20 Pence

good stuff! Nickels always produce when they aren't solid boxes, it doesn't matter how many nickel searchers there are in your area :)

Well no luck with the two half boxes I got on Thursday. I wasn't able to get another square Dunbar box from one p/u bank like I was hoping. I got one flat box with yellow String & Sons wrappers from two different p/u banks and both were skunks. So now I'm 4 for 11 with my half boxes this year but fortunately 3 of those 4 boxes were pretty good boxes and had between 9 - 14 keepers in each box.

I also got $120 in nickels on Friday and in just the $20 of loose mwr's I've searched so far I found a lot of early Jeff's including 4 x '39(P), 7 x '40-'41 including 2 x '41s (one of which I thought might be a large S but I can't really tell for sure) and a dark '42S obv ender. I didn't really notice the date on the dark '42S ender until I opened the roll but I'm having some trouble with my phone right now so I wouldn't have been able to take a pic anyway. That is my 52nd silver keeper of the year so I still have slightly more than a one silver keeper per day average this year. I haven't started the nickel box yet but I'll post the results after I finish searching it. Hopefully I can find at least another good keeper or two.

2/13:
$500 (String) half box #10 - skunk (just a couple of NIFC)
$500 (String) half box #11 - skunk (just several NIFC including an '82S)

2/14:
$7 dollars - 1 clad Ike and 6 small dollar coins (aka skunk lol)
$31 loose halves - skunk (about 12 NIFC's...all 2004's & 2005's)
$20 mwr nickels - 4 x '39(P), 7 x '40-'41 (including 2 x '41s), '42S (obv. ender), 4 x '46-'59 & an '82 Panama Balboa
$100 (String) nickel box - almost full date '30S buffalo, 4 x '39(P) (1 w/steps), 10 x '40-'49 (non-silver), 15 x '52-'59
.....................................3 x '09P, '09D, '94 Jamaica five dollars?

Well I finally got my phone fixed so I can post pics of a couple of my finds from my nickel box. No silver but I did find a nice almost full date '30S buffalo, a nice cond. '39(P) w/partial steps and a '94 Jamaica five dollar coin which I think is the first one of those I've ever found. :icon_scratch:

Nice job finding the war nickel, I love finding those.. When I search brinks nickel boxes with the clear wrappers, I always look at the edge of the nickel roll and guess if I find a war nickel or not. 9 times out of 10 a war nickel has a brownish, discolored edge or a really dirty edge.

Good luck with the nickel box!

Looks like our end of the week halves were a bit skunky.

Congrats on the nickel. That's a 2400% increase on your investment! That's one thing I like about the silver dimes: 1500% increase on the investment. 40% halves are only a 650% increase (still decent, twice the silver weight of a dime, but five times the expense). I hope you find some more war nickels. I'm all out of coins until next week.
