Went out today for about an hour, it was entirely way too hot. With the humidity down here it was about 104Β°. Found this fork I was hoping it was silver, but it looks more like silver plated. It has a <S> under the bow. IMG_0705.JPG IMG_0706.JPG IMG_0707.JPG

You are right, it is not. All silver flatware has Sterling or .925 on it.

Definitely silver plated.
This is what silver forks look like just out of the ground.

Keep at it a sterling one will eventually pop out, at least that is what I am hoping for having unearthed a couple dozen plated flatware pieces this year. I do like checking out the makers mark on even the plated ones as it helps date the site.

I don't see any marks were they usually are there's a <S> mark under the bow ribbon on the bottom base of the fork. I couldn't find one online.

Your silver plated fork beats the heck out of my rusty iron spoon I dug today. Yeah, hot as Hades here today with the rain we had and the humidity. I sweat my butt off for about 90 minutes and called it quits. Go easy mate.:icon_thumleft:
