Hit one of my favorite parks which is starting to get a little hunted out, so I've been digging more shallow signals and also deep iffy signals I ignored in the past. A half hour in, I had a fairly loud penny signal which surprised me when I dug the hole and saw a few links of silver chain showing in the hole. Since it was a loud signal, I started getting excited and walked the pointer back over the hole looking for more - sure enough, a much longer stretch of silver bracelet chain, a 1961 memorial penny, AND a silver heart pendant came out! I was super happy at that point, but I waved the machine back over the hole to see if I had missed anything. Got a faint high tone a few inches off the main hole so I thought I missed a few chain links. Nope. It was a 1914 Barber dime, 6 inches down! It must have been hidden by the larger signal. That made my day completely...

Jersey I'm in the same situation!! I found my first Barber yesterday that way. Iffy but deep. Went back today, of course, and found a big brass cross. Congrats

Congratulations, Truth! It's an amazing feeling seeing that first Barber come out of the ground. Catching one on an iffy signal is an even better surprise. Was it an O mint?

No I thought it was but it wasn't. It was so iffy that I actually decided to make a phone call after making the plug and before I checked it. After the phone call I didn't even remember if I checked it or not. What a surprise when I did.
