Silver ike?

Hey i picked up a small amount of ikes at the bank yesterday and i noticed one of them had an all silver edge but it was a 1972 and there was no mint mark so its not from san fran. Does anyone know if there were silver proofs made or anything?

I agree with ArkieBassMan, I have found hundreds of Ike's over the past four years and only 1 was silver.....

plated, i'd return it to the wild.. i have had thousands of ikes over the years, only keeper, a 1974-s non-silver proof from a convenience store.

Sweet - so you basically got a roll of silver dollars? The rest were CC morgans, or were they Gem BU key date Peace dollars?

Yes me to, I search $50,000 in .50 cent pieces every other week. Last week I ordered $2000 in large dollars but got 2 boxes of small gold ones.



I would love to try $50,000 in the big dollar coins, but I would need to get a bank to take bagged coins.

That was my first and only $1000 bag of IKes. It was probably a fluke. But since halves have been drying up here, I got the bank to order them. 3 more bags are suppose to come tomorrow, then we'll see if I am really on to something. My partner has deep pockets or I could not do but one bag a month.

They must do zero processing on verifying Ikes when filling bags. Since SAE are considerable larger than the regular old "Silver Dollars". Good luck with the other 3 bags coming.

All tellers can order Ikes, but they have to call Brinks, as it is not on their order sheet. Most tellers are just lazy, and it may come with extra fees.

My local bank was filling out an order form when i picked up half's once...just a small slip of paper nothing special but it did say 1 dollar ikes on it and listed the smaller dollars as something else i just dont rember what though its been awhile...she also said she could order them for me but i never tried them..

I asked my teller to order me 1k in ikes.. Shes looking into it for me. She said its not on her form.. Wish me luck!

Only got two bags of Ikes. My teller said that is all the supplier had. I found a 1903 S Morgan, an 1887 Morgan, a 71 Blue Ike, 73 proof, 77 proof, 73 clad au, and a Mirage one dollar token. I sold $1100 within an hour and have the rest to sell at a flea market.
