For those of you that have followed me in the past know that my mother has worked at banks for years. Her tellers are trained(and excited) to try to find me silver. Well today, they finally scored some silver for my pile after a long hiatus.
1922 Peace Dollar in wonderful condition(was in a pile of 10 or so Ikes)

Love those tellers!

NATE!! Good to see you posting again. CONGRATS!!
The Peace Dollar is a beautiful coin.
Make sure it's legit. That would suck if it was a reproduction.
Any chance we get a peek at it? Thanks and Take Care!

Nothing too special on the year- 1922- it is a D mint though...

Nate, everyone knows the fed stopped making silver coins in 1921, so that coin is worthless. Send it to me and I will properly recycle it. :laughing7:

JK! Nice score. I bought $46 in Ikes today and walked away with a bunch of stinky clad.

im no expert at grading, but here is what the redbook says:

"ef-40 Hair lines over brow and ear are strong, though slightly work. Outside wing feathers at right and those at top visible but faint"

Sounds about right from the pictures. Depeding on mint luster heres what AU50 says:

"Slight trace of wear. Most of mint luster present, although marred by contact marks."

I'd say if the mint luster looks ok it could be around an AU grading. The only thing I can see as far as contact marks is the scratch over the Y in LIBERTY on the face of the coin, and the small scratch on the back near the back of the eagles head. Nice score! Probably around a $30 coin, congrats.

the grade really doesn't matter in that condition, it is worth melt value, but still a nice find.

In the Peace dollar series, any "D" or "S" mint mark carries a slight premium over melt. Notice the die crack on the obverse, ver nice. I would grade this at VF condition, probably a $35 dollar coin.

You beat me to the punch on the die crack. That is a wicked crack, if you closely I believe that it extends all the through to the other side of the phrygian cap coming to an end right about under the 'E' in LIBERTY. Worth more than melt to the specialist or for those that care about such things.
