I am sorry to report that this will be the final update for this thread.

But I am also very happy to report that LJ will be picking up where I have left off.

She will be starting a NEW thread for all future 2008 silver CRH finds, and will be updating the spread sheet that has all of the updates for the year.

** PLEASE post all of your future CRH updates on the thread that LJ will originate and maintain. **

It has truly been a pleasure getting to know many of you. I count you as my friends. While I won't be dissapearing completely, I will be scaling back greatly as to the amount of time I can spend here. Good luck to all of you CRH'ers!

Updated 5/15/08, 10:00 AM EDT
90%'ers found = 2015 (728.81 ounces of silver, 40.20% of total);
40%'ers found = 6946 (1027.31 ounces of silver, 56.66% of total);
Quarters found = 19 (3.45 ounces of silver, 0.19% of total);
Dimes found = 356 (25.75 ounces of silver, 1.42% of total);
War nickels = 82 (5.06 ounces of silver, 0.28% of total);
Dollars (90%) = 14 (10.83 ounces of silver, 0.60% of total);
Dollars (40%) = 13 (4.11 ounces of silver, 0.23% of total);
Silver Eagles / other US coins = 6.72 ounces of silver, 0.37% of total;
Non-United States coins:
Totals foreign coins: 1.008 ounces of silver, or 0.06 % of total.

Totals to date: 1813.06 troy ounces, or 151.088 troy pounds recovered. At the 5/15/08 silver value of $16.88 per ounce, this works out to a total value of $30,604.41 for silver recovered from coin rolls and pocket change.

The total weight of silver recovered (as reported on that thread only) for 2007 was 683.55 troy pounds; the total weight of silver recovered (as reported on that thread only) for 2006 was 243.61 troy pounds.

Happy hunting to all,
Bob

To prevent confusion with troy pounds vs. avoirdupois pounds (our normal everyday weight system in the US):
1 troy pound = 12 troy ounces; 1 troy ounce = 480 grains, for a total of 5760 grains per troy pound;
1 avoirdupois pound = 16 avdp. ounces; 1 avdp. ounce = 437.5 grains for a total of 7000 grains per avoirdupois pound.
(1 grain = 0.0648 grams)

Re: Silver Totals for 2008: Post your 2008 Silver CRH finds here!

Hello all,
I just started roll hunting last month and here are the totals.

40% 10
90% 1, but it was a Franklin
I also found a silver 62 quarter in my change the other day.

These were all found roll hunting at the banks. $300 dollars worth of rolls.
Get my first box tomorrow and two more next tuesday. ;D

Re: Silver Totals for 2008: 772.18 ounces recovered, updated 2/10/08

Totals have been updated. We are off to a booming start in 2008!

Several people included Canadian coinage without providing the silver content for those coins in ounces. If you would like those coins included, please PM me with the silver content of your coins and I will be happy to add them to the total.

Some people also included coinage that contains no silver content. The purpose of this thread is to total up the silver found in coins or in circulation. Please don't include your finds that contain no silver. Thanks! ;D

Bob
