Am still searching records trying to find out whom this may have belonged to. If you remember this was one of the first finds I made at the old farm site I have been hunting. It is inscribed on the inside "june 30th 84" no initials, also says sterling. The script looks old style and it was heavily tarnished when I first found it, so much so I didn;t even realize it was silver at first.(wasn;t even sure it was a ring). Which leads me to believe the date is 1884, not 1984 (possibly even 1784) I am assuming it is a wedding band and am looking at marriage records for that date..no luck thus far. I have some help from some VERY enthused women at the Historical society who are pouring thru town records, church records etc. While I think it is a wedding band, I haven;t ruled out engagement ring, or possibly birthday ring. Any other ideas? How bout some advice on the age of it? I would like to find out whom it belonged to first for curiosity sake and second to get it returned to any descendent still living. I already checked with the landowner and its not his mother's or grandmothers or any other relative he knows of. It was found near an old road that travelled down thru the farm to the shore, so basically it may be anyone's that may have just been walking thru, but I wanna do my best to know for sure.
I would appreciate any and all input or ideas on this.....Thanks...
