Snowy 1860's home hunt.... IH, buckles, button, CW relics and misc.
Met up with a local hunter named Jason and hunted a home that was built in 1861 for a grist mill nearby. We had permission from the owners to hunt and they were very friendly. They invited us in and told us some history of the property. They also have a metal detector but said they have not found anything yet. We hunted near one of the outbuildings that had a road that went down to the creek. One of the first finds was a small buckle and then near the bottom next to the creek I found a very green coin. It was caked in dirt so I just put in my bottle to clean later. This area was extremely trashy. I was only digging the high tones and occasionally would dig some small iron targets. It was cold and was snowing off and on but I was dressed very warm and the cold did not bother me. So for the four hour hunt I found a 1908 Indian Head penny (it actually cleaned up fairly well. The last IH I found was really in not very good shape.), two small buckles, a button with an archer on the front (back is very corroded), a heavy pendant (I think), a round piece that I have no idea what it is, a couple CW relics... harmonica reed and what I think is part of a J hook. Also found a large ring that at first I thought was a slave collar but again don't know and a flattened bowl. And a few unknown brass finds and some clad.
