Hey folks,

Good to be back in the saddle again. I was in San Francisco for work for the first half of the week but am back in Seattle now and not traveling for a bit.

Yesterday, I got out with forum member uscgdavis for our first get together. We had a blast. He’s a great guy. The first park we tried was a bust but we had success after moving to another part of the city.

My highlight from yesterday is the “Good for 5c in Trade” token to the S&S Card Room. I don’t get many trade tokens so they are always a welcome surprise.

This morning I went back to an old permission I wanted to finish up. My brother and I have had a lot of success here this year but things have slowed down significantly. I worked it hard and was glad to come home with a good group of keepers.

The tally includes:
-1 Sterling Spoon
-1944 Merc
-1936-S Buff
-1972 Honduras 5 Centavos
-10 Wheats (common dates)

I found the spoon near the end of the hunt in an area that I didn’t expect to hold anything for me. Funny thing is, I was pretty sure it was going to be silver before I dug it. Got a crisp, tightly pinpointed 12-46 at 4 inches. That’s usually a silver dime and maybe even a silver quarter. Dig to 4” and saw nothing. I was feeling bummed but hopeful that maybe it was something bigger like a half and that's why it was deeper. At 5 inches my pinpointer started going off and at 6 inches I finally uncovered the head of the spoon.

Like I said, good to be back! Hopefully I’ll have more to show next weekend and good luck out there folks!

Silver Spoons are a special find IMHO ! Yours can be put into serviceable condition by an area Silversmith ( not any old jeweler !) Nicely Done !

sweet digs!!

That card room token is pretty cool. I always imagine the old casinos be like the ones in a River runs through it. Glad your out hunting, wish I was!

Stir your coffee with that bad boy! Congrats!

Thank you and thanks Tuberale! Agreed. I only get one or two pieces of silver silverware per year. This was especially fun because I wasn’t expecting to find anything old in the little patch I was in. I assumed it was a dead zone. I actually found a silver plated spoon 20 feet away. Must’ve been a popular spot to eat back in the day!

Cool silver spoon, and I like that old tarnished Merc.

Thanks SF! I like the black tarnish on the old silver coins as well. Gives them character. I find this usually happens in areas that are fairly water-logged. This was in a particularly wet patch of grass.

Thank you! First card room token for me I think. Good luck out there!
