Hey guys now I know this is obviously fake or copy. Here's my question. Is it made of silver even tho it's fake and when exactly was it made.. A search on eBay shows differnt fakes but some are a bronze finish. I have an old silver test solution and it does show up light green for those who used silver test solutions know what I'm talking about. My problem is my solution is over a year old not sure if it correct please help. I found it at my grandfathers house and he has no idea where he got it so that doesn't help me at all. So is it silver and when was it made. Thanks everyone

I like it but I have no clue as to whether or not if it's silver.
cool find nonetheless.

I dug one of those not too long back. Thought I had the find of a lifetime. Turns out it was a copy, minted in 1850. So while I was happy to have an "1850's" cpoin, I was bummed because it wasn't the real deal.....

A couple of years back I bought a large group of very early mixed low grade foreign silver and upon going through them this popped out. Talk about something making your heart skip a dozen beats.

Keep in mind it was with 40-50 early coins, all which were genuine! I knew they were all real based on experience, and because the rest were real the way it first processes into your brain is the Sommer Island's one must be real too... but then once you calm down for a minute, you realize that unless this was a cache that was dug, and clearly it was not, the fact the rest were real really didn't mean anything. To top it off just days before this happened there was a big Baltimore Colonial coin auction and a couple of these went through the roof for price, and this example if genuine would have been worth many thousands. But that's the way it goes. :)

In my experience silver test solution will turn light green or yellowish only if it is aluminum usually. On silver it will turn a dark brown or almost red color.
