BOOMING Lilo!!!! When you hunt in Mexico are you hunting public parks, door knocking, or do you research older historic sites?

I never got an opportunity to hunt in Mexico, but my buddies from Dallas made numerous trips down there and recovered all kinds of relics and coins from haciendas and battlefields. It's a little too "hot" down there now and they stopped going. I have some great pictures of one of my buddies Mexican finds.
You got a great assortment of buttons this trip, including some nice Mexican military buttons.
But where are all the half reals :laughing7:

Hi Buddy all of these are from old homesites.
Most came from a homesites that’s literally 1/2 mile from my home in Mexico.

Hi Steve, yes in Mexico the haciendas are real gems for detecting, some of the finds come from San Miguel an hacienda that dates back to the early 1600s, unfortunately I did not find any half reales or silver coinage at all. The silver showed up
In the form of a colonial ball button and the little lion pendant looking thing also colonial I think. My hunting partner in one outing did find a late 1700s Cuartilla, silver 1/4 real. It’s a tiny coin smaller than a trime.

Very very nice 8R. I think the military buttons at the beginning are my favorite. So ornate. Keep up the good work!

What and array of great stuff from there! Congrats and thanks for sharing your adventure! There are too many awesome things to comment on them all but that metal spear point is pretty intriguing. Any thoughts on what that is? Also were those Mexican / Spanish coppers? All great stuff!

Awesome finds. I lived in Mexico for 9 years but didn’t detect then. I’m so sorry I didn’t. Thanks for posting your finds and HH
