Standing Liberty quarter frenzy! More silver!

I had posted the 17-D,{type 1}, a few weeks ago. A few hunts later, I was out with 2 of my buddies, when I got another SLQ, but sadly no date. Continuing on, but grumbling to myself, I heard a great deep signal and dug another 1, but this time a 17-S with a readable date, and an inch away in the same hole a 17-S Merc! I then took about 10 steps and recovered a 50-S Roosevelt. The very next time I hunted, I got another no date SLQ, on my very first target! I don`t post or count no date, or damaged silver in my log, they will be scrapped, but I still can`t complain too much. Also nabbed a 98 Barber dime, and a Superior, Nebraska token.

Very nice finds, but why scrap a couple of nice pieces of American history, just because they have no date? I just dug a toasted Draped Bust cent with no date on it recently, but I wouldn't think of scrapping it for the melt value of the copper. If you're gonna melt them, I'll send you the melt value and keep them with my collection.

Damn..............I never seen so many SLQs in all my years of detecting. I think I dug 3 in my 20 years, and here you find how many? Sheesh! Good job, keep up the good work. Find that 1916 SLQ...............Rich

I agree with Erik in NJ. Why scrap them when they're only worth a couple of bucks each. Keep them. Three bucks won't even get a gallon of gas so no need to destroy them.

One of the dateless ones looks like a Type 1 also. Also appears to have a mintmark (can't say for sure from the picture), but if it does, you know it has to be a 1917.
