Keepers from the railroad bed

Went down to the old fruit belt railroad today with my detector. Found some goodies, but no coins today. The inkwell was an eyeball find, it looks to be from the 20s. I also got some date nails including a 1930, 1929, and a 1926. Overall there wasn't anything special, but it was a nice day and a lot of fun.

Cool finds. I found a 63 Rosie as an eyeball find a while back while walking the tracks near the Byron Pop Festival aka Atlanta International Festival of 1970

Nice date nails. Were they hard to remove from the ties or were the ties pretty rotten already?

Cool Finds! I personally like the old date nails. I have a few, and am always looking when walking the tracks. I presume that that is an old bicycle license tag?

Thanks, I pulled the nails out of the ties that farmers use for fence posts up here. Most are pretty rotted, but its still somewhat of a challenge getting them out without damaging them.

Thanks, and yes that's what I believe is a bicycle license. I have been trying to figure out the age, but I haven't seen any other similar tags from that particular city. Any idea on how old it might be?

You might want to go to the Three Rivers City Hall, or Historical Society, and inquire about a possible age on the tag.

I would dig that place out all around and to the bottom and sift for everything.
