Stanley or Savannah river heartbreaker

My son and I did a quick hunt today on a new field. Found lots of material and one heartbreaker but I'll take that any day. Best part was me and my son finding it together.

Looks like a homestead was near by. The old Vicks bottle and broken stone crock. I have noticed that my best spots have finds from Stone Age to modern.

Hbrown22: that is banded ryolite. Not sure I spelled that correctly. It nice material but I've never found a finished tool of it. I think the NCfieldhunter has though.?? If he sees this maybe he will post a pic.

Hard to say, but I'm gonna go against the grain and say Stanley. I've found some nice larger Stanleys that look very similar to that. Being that the base looks a little bifurcated, the piece seems fairly thin (may not have been finished from the look of it) and that it tapers from bottom to top somewhat aggressively, makes me think Stanley.

Most Stanleys I find are broken. A buddy has a bunch of incredible, large Stanleys in his collection. Nice finds, good luck with the site.

I have found a couple of points and blades made of banded rhyolite. I also have a blank but have no picture of it. Over the weekend, I found this little banded piece.

Is your buddy Cris H. out of Charlotte. If it is yes he has a great collection of Stanleys and triangles. And others.

Rusty, is that a yadkin triangle in the frame? Man, that point is beyond beautiful. That blade is awesome also. Are yadkins found around our area?

SC, I don't Chris from Charlotte, my friend lives here in Raleigh and he too has a nice collection of Stanleys and Triangles, he just flat out has a collection that always makes me feel like mine is "crush 'n run", lol! That said, he's been at it a lot longer and also enhances his finds with purchased pieces.

Rusty, thanks for posting the links to the Savannah and Stanly descriptions, good comprehensive guides. After reading, I'm sticking with Stanly based on angles, length and overall shape. You been having some good hunts lately, keep it up!
