Yeah TJE, sounds like little sister is practicing for "momhood", and White cheeks is giving her some good "toughing up" play. How awesome that your friend owns his own Island & thanks for the info. on what those rocks are from. That's so interesting about the "meteorite/asteroid" thing...can you tell by looking that something like that happened....a large crater or something? Ever found any pieces of it? Some of those snakes sound :O...be careful! I once held a rattlesnake rattle while it was rattling....by the snake, interesting feeling. It's so wonderful that you get a close up experience of "Foxes" and thank you for sharing it with us, we love the pictures!
Yes CK, I think you can see pics from satellites of the impact sight if you type in "Sudbury meteorite"...(think Tamrock mentioned he was even up close by to the area some years ago (through his work..dealing with a quarry).
Got a few more pics of the little sis yesterday...download & post them tomorrow after work. (think her name should be "Square Tail")..haa!.. think her brother may have nipped most of the white tip off her when younger.

Hi TJE...thanks for the name of the Sudbury meteor info, very interesting, would be awesome to own a piece of a "meteor". I Love the new pictures of "Square tail", good name for her! She's a very pretty girl & even though she might have got a "trimming" from brother...it's beautiful! Even though we have foxes here, they're the grey ones & hardly ever see them, let alone get a picture....so yours are so wonderful to see...keep'em coming when you can.:icon_thumright:...please...;)

Gladly CK :) Here's her brother taking a nap...only phone/camera (hard to spot him), but he's there in the dark..under stone layers ;)...
and last pic, first time he actually sounded (barked/woofed) like a dog!..usually high pitched 'yips or squeals' Haa. Found their original (birth) den. There were 4 young at the start...2 didn't make it. I knew momma usually had 3 or 4 normally.

I got quite a shock a few weeks ago. The little chi/terrier mix was sound asleep. Must been dreaming she was a wolf or something. She let out a wolf howl that made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and sent a shiver down my spine. If I hadn't looked quickly and saw that it was actually her that made the sound, I would have been looking around for danger! She woke herself up right at the end of the howl. She looked around like she had heard a wolf howl! lol

What beautiful place to take a nap in, love those stone/rocks TGE, I've always been fond of "rocks"....even lived in a house made of actual "rocks" when I was born & till 3 years old. My dad painted faces on outside rocks so I even had "rock friends"...maybe why I love them so much.;) What a great picture of him :icon_thumleft: & bet he's trying to sound like you "humans", they'll do that (change their normal voice) for communicating with people! I wonder if the "Fox boys", like in cats, are the "talkers"? Ever heard mom do that? And, so sorry :'( that two of the pups didn't make it...happens a lot in nature. Thanks TGE for keeping us posted on these amazing little friends of yours, keep it up! :)

Hey CK, same here!..been a rock/stone nut as far back as I can remember 3 yrs old :icon_thumleft:
As for the foxes vocabulary..it sounds all 'high pitch' whine/squeal/yip, had the opportunity to be close enough to watch (and listen) about a month ago to the mother calling the pups to breakfast! (she had it/prey in her mouth still)...amazing how far away they can hear her ;)

:icon_thumleft:Very nice picture of white cheeks TJE....how close do you get to him while taking the photo's....I guess you're "zooming in"? You said you heard him "bark" did you notice what he was doing it to? Thought maybe it was to you "people"? Still think it's so great you get to be a part of their world, thanks for the new pic.! :)

Wow! You've had an interesting summer there at the quarry this year. I wonder if they'll all stay close by through winter or move on elsewhere? It looks like a safe place to stay. The poor fox around my home all get run off by the coyote. I've seen fox in the residential areas all over here from time to time. They stay very well hidden and away from the eyes of people and those no good coyote who keep them out of the open spaces, but it's good to know their out there. Thanks for showing us all the fun times your having up there.

Yes tr777, hope they can battle/survive through their 'first ever winter'!! It'll be live or die from them (haven't seen momma in a while)...so they best remember what she taught them!!! ;)

:icon_thumleft: Beautiful pictures TJE....I think your foxes are the prettiest I've ever seen, perfect! And how funny that they're playing with your stuff, kids! lol Wonder why mama hasn't been around, let us know if/when you see her. Yes, hope they make it and have families of their own one day. They sure like it at your place...but who wouldn't...you guys treat them like family. Thanks for the pictures..:)
