Storm finds- cutting tools?

I’m back to try my hand as a newbie once again. [emoji51]

Someone please tell me if these are anything. I walked the shores for awhile and found a whole lot of quartz and argillite flakes and chunks everywhere. This is a spot where I have found fishing weights and there are large drilled stones, so I know there was activity here. So far I have a whole lot of the right stone, simply not the right shapes. These to me look like they could be a type of multi tool. Perhaps for slicing net or line? They’re both cut in a strangely similar fashion and incredibly sharp. They are sharp on the inside angle of the cut as well as on the ends. Flat back on both. Some visible scratches. Thanks for any input.

I’m not seeing anything worked by human hands. Could be large flakes though.

You’ll see those shapes come off chunks/blocks of flint. Quite often they are man made “garbage” or waste stone broken off getting through the cracked and fractured outer layers of material to get into solid material.

a lot of times when you find the same type of stone broken into similar shapes it simply means that that "type" of rock fractures in specific ways and angles. Different minerals have different fracture tendencies.

I think being able to identify the right type of stone goes a long way in finding artifacts. The better you know the lithics in your area, the better you are at spotting those tiny glimpses of color or texture that might be an awesome point! Happy hunting!
