strange crust and its underneath

this stone has an interesting crust on it. a very thin layer cracked here and there and there is this something dark coloured surface of the inside.

i will have to chip and see what is inside but before that i would want to ask anyone have this kind of sample before or is there anyone has any idea about it.

Go ahead and chip it, likely the crust your looking at is a rind of decomposed material of the core mineral. Its not uncommon for minerals to have rind's after long exposure to the environment. That's why one chips a stone to get an idea of what its made of in its unaltered state.

it is strangely enough i have chipped it and see that was not the crust.

the stone has its own texture with that brown garnet windows here and there.
