The 3030 is basically the successor to the E-Trac. The ETrac is part of what Minelab called the "E Series" consisting of all the Explorers, Quantro, Safari and ETrac. I do not believe Minelab is coming out with another ESeries detector...-

Yep... Since Minelab has shifted from FBS in the Etrac/Explorer series to now using FBS2 in the CTX 3030, I would expect the next upgrade to be to the CTX 3030.

Word on the street is that they are working on some kind of hybrid detector to be released spring 2017 but no one has any details other than that

Sounds like unsubstantiated rumor... Minelab is very tight lipped about what their engineering.....
