Surprise inside old "coin purse"

I was detecting an old homestead for a couple hours with absolutely no luck :-\ Tons of bullet shells, pulltabs and trash. I was getting ready to leave when I got what appeared to be a solid penny/dime signal. Dug down about 4" and saw something gold colored. I eased it out of the ground to see a packed "coin purse"!!! My heart was racing! What could be inside?? Some old silver? A $5 gold piece? I stuck it in my pouch, gathered my stuff, jumped in my truck and went home so I could take a pic before and after I opened it. The pictures tell the rest :laughing7:...Rich.

Awww Man! Still a cool find, but I bet you were disappointed. I got one of those old razors from my grandmother after my grandfather passed away. Came with two packets of fresh blades, individually wrapped. I shaved with it for about a week but quit once I realized how wonderful modern razors are. That old thing HURT!

I found a GEM RAZOR head tonight.

By chance does it state that on the head?

Cool find brother...

Aw, such a rush and then ... pffffft...

I'm with some others... I remember these "screw-them-together" razors, but why such a feminine package? Maybe the kit was for women shaving their pits and legs? Looks like 50s, 60s periphenalia to me. (Is that a word?) Thanks for sharing with us, though!

I was thinking the same, that it was a womans because of the case. I'm guessing it's from the 50's-60's? Did women shave the basement back then? :laughing7:

Re: Surprise inside old "coin purse"

The gem in your find is the purse itself! That may not be just "gold" colored. Do be careful with it!

I'd wager it's older than you think. Looks more like 1890-1920 than 1950-60, at least to me.

Re: Surprise inside old "coin purse"

Sorry, but that particular style of razor was from the late 50s and early 60s. And no, sorry to say, pits and legs and faces were all that were shaved back in those days. I know; I'm ancient. ;D :D :hello:

Bummer that was not a coin purse.
