Tonight, after a unsuccessful hunt after work, I decided to pull out the Etrac and scan my own yard again. I have a rather small 1920s property and a lot of the areas where you would find things are now covered with blacktop or cement. I have tried various detectors and various coils over the years, but I have never found any silver in my own yard, until tonight. There are normally zero signals. I have dug them all. Tonight I got an iffy 11-45 on the Etrac I was thinking memorial cent, boy was I surprised to see the silver edge of a 1897 Barber dime. It was only down about 4-5 inched but covered by smaller tree roots. Sorry the photo is upside down.

Nice find......I hope you don't mind, I turned your picture right side up, and cropped it a little, so I hope this works.

Awesome find for your yard!!, I too have a 1920s house with a pretty big yard, I got 3 silvers, 1 merc, roosie, and a pin, plus about 15 wheats, 2 indians, and a v nickel, I can't find a signal in my yard now to save my life

Great find!

Lol I thought I was the only one out in my yard constantly. My house was built 112 yrs ago, still pulling cool stuff.

I have a tiny 1920's yard here in Syracuse. I haven't tried that yet, maybe this Saturday. I'd love to find one of those. I sure wish the newly minted coins were as beautiful as those old ones. Great find!

That is cool, finding Silver in your own yard. My house was built in 1969 and the best I have managed is a wheaty! Congrats on the 1800s Silver!
