Something new among all the iron relics I usually find. I dug this up this afternoon, between the road and the blacksmith shop...a button.

Use your judgement on the pic cause it is not the best. I hope you can make out what I can see under the magnifying glass. Can you see the outline of the eagle? I know it is corroded but it still a major find for me...better than that Chucky Cheese token I found Saturday.

;) RR

Nice RR.
I think I see what you see. Top left sort of bare spot. In my mind I also see what appears to be some sort of grain or twig of sorts on the left of the button. A series of staggered and opposing oval shapes moving vertically up the button (or am I just seeing things?). Let's see what it looks like after electrolysis. Looks copper from here. If so it should clean up nicely.

Laater...

Looks like an eagle to me. Use olive oil and a wood tooth pick to try and pick off the crud. Can't use anything very harsh on the buttons that lost all thier gilt.

RR, I Think It Is An Eagle Button, It Is A Shame What Time And Soil Conditions Can Do To Them, Thats Why We Have To Find Them As Fast As We Can. trk5capt...
