That looks like a cast iron stove door. You’re right, the Deus 2 can hit very deep on cast iron. I’ve dug a couple of pieces that made me question my sanity (“how could such a strong signal possibly be this deep” sort of thing).

It may be a stove door as robertk suggested. My initial thought, was a cast iron corner molding for an entry way. Many establishments had cast iron door facades rather than wood.
I’m not certain of the size in your photo.

I took my new machine out to test ot and found this awesome thing. I have a big hunt planned for tomorrow. Hopefully uncover more cool history.
