I'm trying here.

Spent all morning and afternoon photographing artifacts and putting them into iPhoto. Re-sized each one to 512 (length or width, whichever was greater).

Every time I've tried (like six or seven times now) to post one I get an error message saying the maximum file size allowed is 512.

I have no idea what's going on here, but I'm out of enthusiasm for writing long, explanatory accounts of pictures I can't post.

If anybody wants to be pivot man, I'll e-mail the images as attachments ; he can put them up & I'll add commentary to them afterward. Or I can send him the commentary with the images to post.

Best I can come up with.

Hi,

512 is the kilobytes - not the physical dimensions....

A jpg (or jpeg) image is probably your best bet, with medium to high compression.

The image posted below is 1200 x 961 - but it is a compressed jpeg... and is only 89 kilobytes....
