Ty and I went back to the 1700's site today joined by our good buddy rtde3 (Rob). The weather was perfect and the digging was just as good.Lot's of signal's and lot's of iron but we all came out with some decent find's.The biggest find for me today was a counterstamped copper....although this puppy does'nt have any date is does make up for it with all the other marking's,never seen anything like it. It measure's 29.8 mm.....any info would be appreciated. Also came away with two Injun's,1902 and a 1903 in pretty good shape.A 43-D Wash.,38' and a 44' wheaty, couple small buckle's and a suspender clip, misc. plated jewelry part's,button and two 3 ringer's.Any info on the copper would greatly appreciated........Can't wait for the crop's to start dissappearing.Thank's and HH!!

Hey Joe, Great day!!!
I checked the measurements on that large Copper and I hate you!!!
The only thing that comes in that large, that I could find, is a 1694
William and Mary.
GREAT Recoveries!!!!!!

An interesting lot for sure. I like counterterstamped coins as they are different, no help here though, sorry.
If I may disagree, my favorite out of that bunch is the flowery broach thing, good shape and no damage for such a delicate looking piece. A great day was had by you.

Great finds......and "counterstamped" may have been the understatement of the year. ::)
And markings on the 8-sided piece that you found? I found one like that when I was hunting
in the Petersburg, VA area, back in the late 1980's.
And, really nice I.H. pennies.

Your large piece of brass there is a part of a two piece buckle, and it *may* be military. It reminds me of the keepers on the snake buckles--but I'm certain I have seen if somewhere before. Man, what a great variety you guys found. Some killer pieces in there. Early items. The counterstamped copper is Wonderful.

I'll look for that buckle.

Regards,

Buckles
