I took off from detecting for a couple of days, because of the heat and hard dry ground. Well I got restless this morning and decided to head out to the older part of town to try my luck. I came upon a abandon house that was built in 1927 according to my record search after I got home.

This is one of these sites that you just know it has been pounded to death by numerous people. When I find a older site like this I pull out my trusty Vaquero with the 5.75 inch concentric search coil. I set discrimination just high enough to discriminate out a nail and start digging. I'm looking for masked targets that others have missed.

Every time that I'd pull a nail out of a hole first, I knew that wasn't what the Vaquero was sounding off on and kept looking. I ended up with a lot of trash, some clad coins, a piece of a silver ring, 8 wheat pennies with the 2 oldest being 1917 and 1919, a 1933 Canadian penny, a 1927 Mercury dime and 1943 War Nickel.

The HEAT and dry ground is here! I may wait until we get some rain before giving it another try.

This was my 69th hunt for the year and my silver coin total for the year now stands at 197. I only need 3 more by the end of June. It's doable!

Congratualtions on the silvers! :occasion14:

I seem to have the same luck when using the Tesoro Tejon, a really fun machine to use and retrieve the keepers!
