$1000 in Dimes (4 boxes)
Box1: 1948S, 1947D
Box2: 1961D, 1943D Winged Liberty Head
Box3: 1954D, 1962D
Box4: 1964

Brings my dime averages up (?1?1?!) to 96 silvers from 71.5 boxes. 1.34/box! I don't know what to think about the average going UP...first time in a long time that has happened.

$200 in Nickels (2 boxes)
Box1: 30 Pre 60s, 1 hoser nickel, 1936 Buffalo Nickel with a hole above the Buffalo. I find it ironic that people put holes in nickels for jewelry to show off the art on the coin, all while destroying the art on the coin...
Box2: Dateless Buffalo, 1942S War, 1958 Hole Filler (WOOT! 4 to go for the Jefferson Nickel Book!), 31 Pre '60s, and 2 hoser nickels

Running average comes to 17 war nickels out of 23 boxes. 0.74/box!

I also put some cash down for the Badgers to beat the 7.5 point spread they are favored in against the Michigan State Spartans. 110 payout. Really? Vegas has the spread at 7.5? Why? Because Michigan is ranked so high? Did they NOT see that game where #6 Wisconsin pounded #7 Nebraska as a welcome to a real football conference? This is just as good as silver in the safe and money in the bank...

On Wisconsin!

1.34 silver dimes per box is good. I'm envious and would love to have that average. My average is UNDER 0.30 per box over the past 2 years. Roughly 1 per ~$875.

As for sports betting, being technically a professional gambler for about 10 years now I can give you a little insight. The "line" that is set in Vegas has little to do with the overall talent of one team versus the other. What the line setters do (and how they come up with the actual number is WAY beyond my capabilities or understanding) is to try and set the line at the exact point where an equal dollar amount will be wagered on each side, thereby the "house" will pocket the "vig". In most cases the vig is 10% - you have to wager $110 to win $100. When a line changes during the week, its not because the "experts" have changed their minds upon the outcome of a game and/or the overall talent of one or both teams involved, its because more money is being wagered on one side versus the other. Simple as that.

And I'll even pass along a couple of tips that I have learned the hard way: 1. Its always a bad idea to bet on "your" team. Its impossible to be unbiased. 2. When you see a line that is "too good to be true", it almost always is. I can't explain this one, but it will hold true 75%+ of the time. For example, if your Badgers were playing Prairie View this week and let's say Wisconsin was favored by only 5 points, you better load up on Prairie View. I realize thats a ludicrous example, but you get my point.

After an overnight soak in salted vinegar, the Buffalo is a 1914S. I already have one. If anyone needs it and is interested in a trade, PM me.

Learn to count cards and not get caught. ;D Just learning basic blackjack strategy (and always following it 100% of the time) will cut the house advantage down to around 1% which is BY FAR the best odds you will get in a casino outside of the poker room.

One other thing - some casinos still use half dollars on their blackjack tables. Can do a little silver hunting while you play!

Lost big time...wow. Second year in a row that Michigan St. did this to us. I thought my guys would be up for it considering they were the only loss last year. Out for revenge. I guess not...Russel Wilson finally gagged.

Don't feel too bad, Choklahoma did too. I really was surprised they overturned the call on the field though. Could have gone either way. National Championship is Nov. 5th. LSWHO vs. Bammer. Gagggg. SMTTT!
