One day a squirrel sat in his usual perch high in a tree and he watched a chicken run across a plush green pasture. “That chicken is going to end up being fox food one of these days if it keeps doing that.” As the weeks progressed the chicken never missed a single day, always crossing the pasture at exactly the same time and always using the exact same path. “Just a matter of time before that chicken ends up being fox food,” the squirrel muttered. It wasn’t long before the weeks turned into months and the months into years, and yet that chicken never missed a single day. In fact that chicken had crossed the path at the same location so many times he had worn a narrow path in the plush pasture that was several inches deep in the dirt. “Any day now that chicken is going to end up being fox food,” the squirrel quietly muttered to himself.

Then one day the squirrel was watching the chicken cross the pasture when all of a sudden a big red fox leaped out of its hiding and it proceeded to devour the surprised and screaming chicken. The squirrel sat in his perch watching the scene below him, his head slowly turning from side to side in complete disbelief at how stupid the chicken had been. Suddenly an eagle swooped down from the sky and it proceeded to devour the surprised and screaming squirrel.
