That?s a good one Dizzy. The 80?s were one big party and when you instilled with work ethic calling in sick was never a option.

For me what started out as every once in a while showing up to work with the same cloths on from the day before turned into every week. That got old real quick with my co-workers. By the grace of God today I have 29 years clean & sober.

Congrats on the 29 years Ed! americanasmiley.gif woot-035.gif americanasmiley.gif

And I have heard... just stay up!! A couple hours of sleep ain't gonna help!! :laughing7:
Of course heavy equipment operators... truck drivers... brain surgeons.... not so much!!

Couple HOURS sleep? Hell, there were times when I was pulling a "hot load",
meaning it absolutely has to be there, on time that I was lucky to get
a couple 30 minute naps on a 30-40 hour run. Any other spare time was
spent re-writing my log book in order to make it all look legal. :laughing7:

Nothing like having to have those continental breakfast's at the rooms of a massive resort for all those English tourists by 7am.

When you quit drinking at 2am and were in bed sometime after that... at earliest maybe 3am... up by 6 and CANNOT be late.

Talk about "balls to the wall"... Especially when your the only one doing a 3 person job.

That was by far the tests of all tests... heh

And damn... i wonder looking back... where the hell did that all that energy level go ?

If i tried that today... i would be found in some stairwell... in need of some assistance to get off the steps.

:/

If you showed up for work at the fire station severely hung over (military, no show was no option) on Sat or Sun morning, then expect to be assigned to tail board and have training exercises all morning pulling and restacking hose. Prox suit and air pack ran about 70 to a 100 lbs (and hot), then running pulling the hose stack off...

Cute. A cousin sent me a pic yesterday of an old tombstone with a new shiny "I voted" sticker on it. Times do change. Sometimes.

In two of my careers there were national and regional trade shows,
and that's where you have an opportunity to improve relationships
with both old, and prospective new customers. grouphug5.gif

AARC, You nailed it...out til all hours with one group of customers alc.gif ,
and then having a 7am breakfast meeting with another. need_coffee.gif

Then, you get to work the booth all day, followed by a repeat
of the previous night. rockband.gif pint.gif

As for the loss of energy, we got old and wise and quit that crap
before it killed us. That's also why you hire healthy young people
who can take the bodily abuse; let them do the hard partying so
we can be in bed by 10... moose.gif

I remember those. You pay for the stamp so you can go outside and come back in. Then you go outside, lick the ink, and pass the stamp along to a friend. But nowadays they frown on blind two for one specials.

HA HA HA.....Good ONE to read that I was not the only cheap ass doing that.

It only took a few occasions, back in my younger years, to learn that placing concrete with a hangover was one of man's worst punishments. That was the end of the drinking on nights before work. But, I do remember going to work in the morning saying "man, when I get off tonight, I'm eating dinner and going to bed". Then, at quitting time, new energy, and parties better watch out...LOL. Repeat the next morning...Ha!
