Hello all,

I spent three hours detecting on a field which i did for the first time a couple of weeks back!
Had some pretty nice stuff!

My best lead find yet, not sure what it's from, but i think it's religeous!
A trade cup weight (i think)
Decorated scissor handle thing (looks Georgian) :dontknow:
A jetton and a george 1 farthing
The last and best find was a tiny hammered coin! It's a Venetian Soldino 1486-1501 and it's in lovely condition ;D

Heres my stuff

Nice variety.. Good for you... They liked to hide their gold at the Abbeys, you know.

Those coins, gold Dukats and silver Soldinos were minted very similar for almost 600 years, the difference is the name of the Duke on the right legend above the kneeling Duke. Mine is Marino Grimani, 1595-1605. HH, Mike

Shaun, you are finally growning up! Congrad on these finds, I knew it would get better for you, just takes time to find the spots to search.
Your crown appears to have been part of something larger, maybe a man standing under it. Could be something from a church, thrown away when the king was out of favor or beheaded.
I think that is your best find, you never find something like that. Althought the coin is nice, you can and will find many of those!

Thanks Woody, that's what me and Cru thought! Possibly from the reformation, the Abbey is very old!
