Another hardstone day. Found a few broken which were decent but the pestle was an unexpected find.

The corn was getting tall but due to ongoing things I had not been able to get out until now.

The day started in the mid 40s which is cool for this time of year, with a breeze with occasional gust. Oddly enough when I got into the field I wore my light gloves and had my hoodie up under my hat.

Walked a few ridges, didn't see too much. Then onto the rise towards the lower edge I spied a curve I knew, but did not put the probability of a find so I simply popped it out. Well it is a pestle.

Freshly popped out pestle.

Not sure how the pestle image posted twice.

Some processes have changed here.

What a sweet find... good on you..
From that first pic.i would have thought Celt, by the shape.
Certainly has some girth to it.. I have yet to find one.
Thanks for the show and enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Wow that is nice it looks like some of the ones around here. I like pestles much harder to find than the morters.

Congrats on a great hunt. The Pestle is a very nice example. I believe that one would be called a ?Bell Pestle??
What is the material? Looks like quartzite in the last pic.
