An md buddy and myself got out to a local Rev war site today that we have hit many times and came out with lots of musket balls and the like before. Today was the best day we have had there yet I think. My finds were one holed LC of some sort, it has the image of a man facing right and what close up appear to be square holes? Also found another LC, 181?. Also found my first what I am guessing is my first British musket ball, measures around .80 across, bigger than all the .50 balls we have found there. Also found a strange little button about three feet away from the British ball. Other finds from today include an old straight razor, a 1964 Roosie, a small copper bell, a 46' nickel, two wheaties a 1919 and 1946, some strange oval shaped whatsit and $1.63 in clad. My buddy found a bunch of good stuff too, I'll let him tell you though. Thanks for looking and for any help on id's!

Thanks guys, seger98 my thinking was that the second "button" was a holed large cent, possibly a King George?

Sweet! I had a blast today! I bet that holed coin is a KG of some form ( maybe someone made it into a button?) Any marks on your button? I'll post my stuff tomorrow when I have a better chance to clean em up.

Looks like that second copper was turned into a childrens' toy. :)

Nice hunt and finds! You have a nice site to detect. The two holed coin does look like a King George colonial era copper that could have been a button or a buzzer toy for kids. I have always called those buzzer toys whizzers, mine are all made of lead. You have some great finds and I hope your photography skills improve, LOL. Are you using the macro feature, the tulip looking button? Some cameras do not do macro very well. HH, Mike

Mike I could take really close up pics if there are any parts of the coin or button you would like to see in more detail with my microscope camera if it might help? Just let me know

I was think this too...I don't think it was made into a button. They were called buzzers. Check out this article: http://www.treasurenet.com/treasures/feature/200706.htm

Wow... N.J.THer, I think you nailed the "buzzer" toy ID.

Great find!!
