Don't worry, for most of us here, our first finds were nails and screws. It gets better!

Re: Today's Pathetic Finds...

Hang in there bro....the first time I tested out my detector, I found some caps, some tabs and a piece of pipe. Some real rookie advice......if you're looking for coins and don't want to waste too much time digging signals, try using your discrimination so that you only pick up copper and silver. All metal I think has its application, but if sacrificing a little depth is no big deal, running on discrim for coins will save you alot of time and digging. My detector for one reason or the other seems to have no loss of its puny depth when in discrim.

I didn't do much better. A few shotgun shells and a .22 slug.

Been there and done that!My first time out was in my yard.My treasures:beer caps, old fuses, foil and what I thought had to be a dollar by the sound of the detector screaming was a mashed pop can just under the surface.LOL.It'll get better.Just keep at it.

Re: Today's Pathetic Finds...

Yes we have all had day's like that, my pet peeve in the water is that I always seem to find all the hair pins. But I also find gold chains, and small rings. You have to dig the junk to find the goodies. Keep at it those good finds will come, trust me.

Re: Today's Pathetic Finds...

Feeling comfortable with those holes yet? IF not do you have any woodchip area's in local schools near you? Pretty much guaranteed some coinage and perhaps some jewelry in the woodchips and as a bonus you usually don't have to worry too much about your hole being to big in the chips.

Your first coin will come real soon. Then they will start pooring in. Even here in Kentucky. IF it can be found in SE Kentucky than I am sure it can be found anywhere in Kentucky.

Good luck,

Re: Today's Pathetic Finds...

I went to a local park that had wood chips but there was a layer of some type of material under them that I didn't want to disturb. I may try the shoreline of the Ohio River one of these days. I'm not going to give up....

dave like the others have said we all have those kind of outings, but your chance for finding stuff always goes up when out swinging the coil, what better way to spend an hour
