Woke up to the perfect Saturday morning, cold and frosty but beautiful blue skies, so off we went to see what this week would bring.

I found theses 2 super cute buckles, then we have another complete buckle and loop, a slightly bashed solider, a patterned bit, a chunk of lead that looks like flames 🔥 😆 a tiny medal (dog tag) a solitary musket ball (small type) buttons, then my mystery object… 😆 I think it’s bronze..it weighs a whopping 977 grams and is 3 inches long by 2 inches wide.. 🤔 .. has an iron thru the middle 🤔 some totally toasted pre decs …. And obviously my hammereds today are an Elizabeth the 1st and a quarter …! 😎 xx

Edit.. the complete hammered is a
Charles 2nd 1669-85 not Elizabeth 1st xx

The sun even had some warmth in it this afternoon… just the best way to spend the day..😆

Well nice save on the one legged-headless soldier (I really don't trust him pointing that gun though)

Lovely little buckles, though the "a patterned bit" is most interesting.
Need a flip on the wreath coin/medallion and that is one strange one beside it with the big hole.

I'm liking the hammer head, what a beauty she is, pounded many a thing in it's life.

Now for the sweet cream of toppers.
Congrats once again on the silvers-nice looking Lizzie and you're on the game blossom getting the cut quarter.
Folks don't realize how small they actually are (hint another photo beside a common coin)
Smashing results once again.

Hi blossom, your Lizzie hammered is a halfgroat from Charles II rather than a Lizzie I think. They do look share a bit of a resemblance though!
Charles I, I would say, not got time to check & never read the Lizzie bit either...

Enjoyed the pics and descriptions, as usual for your posts.
Such hammers were used by machinists to avoid marking steel and iron items when tapping them in place. I'd put a handle on it and add that to my tool kit if I had found it.
A small lead ball is not really a musket ball, although we know what you mean. Lead balls were used for rifles and pistols too. Ones smaller than about the .69 of the British standard military musket are probably from other types of firearms. I usually call them "gun balls" rather than musket balls.
