I had a spectacular day metal detecting! Found two seated dimes 1886 &1887s in one hole, then i was starting to have an allergy attack, so on my way back to the truck i found a nice barber dime. I didnt want to quit treasure hunting, but the grass was pollenating and killing me! So i went to this old dump site and decided to do some sifting....and hit coins, tokens, a sterling fork, a kewl silver badge and more silver coins, my eyes wanted to swell shut, but i was too hot to quit!!! LOL! The suffering was worth it haha!!! Oh yeah.....i almost forgot, i tried to do some research on the silver badge, couldnt find much except the company that made it (on the back) used to make high quality swords for the civil war, then went on afterwards to make cerimonial swords for groups like the freemasons and such, never could find anything else on it, im gonna post it in the whatsit? section to see if anyone else knows much about it. Thanks for looking!

Nice Tokens Dude :icon_thumright:

Some research on the tokens is sure to turn a goodie or two: I really like the token "The Pacific" Butte Montana, those non-maverick tokens can be worth a lot to state specific collectors

I almost spilled my coffee seeing all those tokens. Killer day of hunting! Any chance of posting the other sides of those tokens?

Well, you did a heck of a job cleaning them nickles. I have seen some good results cleaning them but those look stunning. How long did you cook them and what was the follow-up. If I could get some of my shield nickles that clean I would do it. Thanks.
Well....some are gonna cringe but, first i use clr to remove most of the "gunk" and "crud" to even see what they are. Then i use electrolosis to get most of the really hard stuff to come off,( for example, some of the tokens which i have only "lightly" cleaned NOT using this method have melted glass on them) and lastly, i tumble them overnight in a rock tumbler and they look like they do now. I usually only do this with nickles and pennies, because alot of them are melted or corroded anyway. I only clean these ones like this that come from the dump i sift.

Great hunt..the badge looks like some type of I.D. badge for a company..the name of the person or an ID # would have went in the empty space in the middle..
really like those tokens...

Nice way to turn a bad day into a most excellent one!

BTW, considering the age of most of your finds, not as certain as you are that the cufflink is plated.

WTF?

Okay, the posting was removed, sorry about my vague post.
Any info on the "Thirty(?) Club Cigar Store?
Don't see any listing, so far, in the CO token book.
Since you are so close to Colorado, tokens tend to be found from both states.
Here at least, in Denver.
Once again, killer finds.

Ditto. I have been tip-toeing around the subject... never seen results like that. Give us the exact details and let us try your method.

Thanks all! If you go back up to one of my posts you will see i also use a rock tumbler, and that is what makes them look so shiny albeit "warn". In detail? well when i get home i put them in CLR for about 2-3 min, then wash them off and use a home-made electrolisis device with salt and lemon juice in my water to get the hardest crud off, then i put them in a rock tumbler that has regular sand in it and leave them overnight. By the morning they are usually shiny.

The Thirty Club was a cigar store here in Butte Montana. Been told the 25cent ones are worth around $20 in good condition the 5 cent one is unlisted, so no idea on its value yet. The Pacific token is worth anywhere from $65-$128 according to a Montana token book.
