Most of the state-issued tax tokens are not worth more than a quarter or so. They were issued in pretty large quantities and it was not unusual for travelers to carry them out of state. Yours is listed as #AL-2 in Jerry Schimmel's U. S. State-Issued Sales Tax Tokens book.

Thanks bunches, it ain't worth alot but I think I would rather dig something like that than a penny or even a rosie (silver) any day. Thanks again RK
 

is that $5 or .05 cents on that token.... ?
 

It's 5 mills; 1 mill =1/10¢.

This token was in use in 1937-38.
