Last night the hay field accross the road coughed up an 1863 fatty Indian. Tonight I headed back over for a short hunt with hopes of finding something to compliment the Indian and I was not dissapointed. I am not able to swing the Minelab for very long as I am still recovering from a back injury. I dug three targets in 45 minutes with the second being this nice 1864 2 Cent Piece. This is my second one of these that I have found. This did not clean up as well as the Indian did but still nice. Once again........ What else can there be in this field??
This will be a short post as I think I over did it tonight and my back is KILLING ME !! Here are some before and after pics.

I dont think I will pick up the MD again for a few days. hurts too much..... Thanks for lookin. I am headed to VICODIN land :(

Welcome to the "two cent club". Found mine a few weeks back. Only an inch under the soil. These are VERY rare coins. However, yours makes the fourth i've seen this month. Amazing. Mine is an 1864 as well. Look at the banner. If you have the small banner variety, you could have a $300 or $400 coin there. So strange whenever I see these pop up. Congrats on the find! Welcome to the club.

That's a great looking coin there. My first one was all crusty with fertilizer crud and the date wasn't even readable.

Great post.

You appear to have the "large motto" variety, which is relatively common. Great find nonetheless. Hope your back heals quickly!

That date looks double-stamped--or it just me?

Good eyes !!

The Cherrypickers' Guide, Third Edition, by Bill Fivaz and T.J.Stanton list this coin as a repunched date.
I had not noticed :tongue3: I guess that the coin may be a little better than I thought.

Thanks for all of the replies !! I will see if I can find anything more this weekend ( I HOPE )

Here are a couple more pics....
