Conversations with curious residents and fellow detectorists, and time to gather more relics from Baltimore, filled the afternoon from 1 to 4PM today, and was it ever an awesome hunt. Typical wide variety, including miniball, 9 mm round, gilded pin, brass key, WWI collar disc, three indians from the '80s (two with readable "LIBERTY".....and some clues as to where to hunt next from a resident who found Civil War buttons and utensils years ago.

They looked awful just out of the ground, but cleaned up...not bad. 1880, 1882 and 1888. How strange to find three from the '80s in one outing! Probably says more about when that part of the park was used.

Hey cambria. Thanks. Hadn't given that particular area much heed, though I had found an old watch winder there before and then recently and IHP. Looks lie there's more to be found.

Sounds like a great spot you've found. I've always loved the design of the Indian Head cent. Good luck on that next hunt McCDig.

Thanks NW Digger. Hope to get back there when I can take my time, go slow and listen for the good sounds.

Thanks BWDave. Searching the bottom of a hill by a busy street yielded that keeper.

Excellent saves! I KNOW what Baltimore has to offer in the way of finds! I used to hunt all the high spots way back in the 70's when I started. Druid Hill, Patterson, plus a couple of the ones you've already mentioned before. But, in all seriousness, I won't even try those spots anymore. There's just too much violence downtown anymore.

I am glad to see that the "younger" crowd is still brave enough to try. Because there is a TON of stuff down there STILL!

Very nice McCDig! Keep 'em coming but be careful!!

OBN, thanks for the photo. What is pictured, I have not seen. Perhaps it's been filled in for athletic fields now. Can you imagine what finds were left behind there? It's odd to see what looks like lamposts in the pond; can only think they were gas lamps.

Will do. After two years at it, I can say I've never been hassled and never had my vehicle tampered with. I've met many residents. It's not uncommon to run into other detectorists. All that being said, there is violent crime in the city, more than in other areas.

Sharp eyes Dig! It would have been a grand hunting spot, most covered now with tennis courts and a golf course.. You might figure.. Clifton Park 1920's
