Great finds over the weekend but these are interesting enough to justify a separate post. Bought these spoons at an estate sale. They looked and felt like silver but didn’t have any marks I recognized. I bought a bunch of stuff so the operator through them in for free. They’re American coin silver by George Sharpe circa 1870. I’m thinking about keeping them (because that period is interesting).
Check out the interesting pseudo marks he used on the back. Most of the old American silver I’ve found is marked “Coin” or Standard. This is the first time I’ve seen the pseudo marks outside a book! I’m excited because it’s cool. Happy hunting.
