The Rocky Mountain ghost town of Buckskin Joe was founded in 1859 and was named after founder Joseph Higgenbottom who dressed in "buckskin" clothes. We're going to this ghost town this weekend to see if we can dig anything good up! See below for more info on the town. We're meeting at 9am at the Golden Detectors store in Golden Colorado before we head up the mountain. Everyone is invited and I'll post our finds later!!

I remember going ot Buckskin Joes with my (now ex) wife and two dogs. they had a nice little western town and even some mock gun fights.

SO, if you are going, you need to find out if it is still a tourist town or not. ALthough it is considered a ghost town, I thought it wsa private property, and might even still be open to the public for tours in the summer.

no?

Well there are actually TWO Buckskin Joes. Believe it or not, they rebuilt the town north of Colorado Springs to be a tourist attraction, and most people think that it's the original town as well. But the real Buckskin Joe was abandoned and is still to this day, a little west of the city of Alma. That's the one we were looking for. See the link below for our finds.
