I was able to spend two hours each at two old sites yesterday and came home with over a dollar in clad but no old coins (yet). I did find a few things that indicate that old coins are still possible, however. At an old house owned by the local historical society, I found a medallion from the 20th annual Pennsylvania AFL-CIO convention in Philadelphia, held Feb 26-March 1, 1957. It is slightly larger than a quarter, and provides scale in the picture for the lock I found elsewhere.
At an old farm, I found this heavy lock, with no markings on it. From top to bottom, it's about 3 inches long, maybe 3.5, and 2-2.5 inches wide. It's also about a half inch thick. I don't know anything about these locks, and I'm hoping some of you will. I'm heading back to the old house this morning, hoping that my luck will change for the better. Feel free to modify the picture size if you'd like!
