I went back to my new field today and it didnโ€™t disappoint. I found a 1912 V nickel, and not long after popped out the 1907 and 1917 5cent silver half dimes. ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1571022406.633821.jpg

I started hunting this field in August, and now I have found 5 fishscales there in total. And that makes 8 for the season! ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1571022592.625857.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1571022625.459194.jpg ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1571022649.660501.jpg

Thanks Wildcat!

They got that nickname because they are so tiny they resemble fish scales. They are just slightly less weight than a US half dime.

Love those tiny little silvers. No wonder people lost them so much, huh? Nice going!

Thanks Washingtonian! People around here lot a LOT of them, I think Iโ€™m getting close to 40 since I started digging in 2010.

They are a cool coin. When were wintering in Florida years ago, I found one at an old homestead. How that ever ended up there is anyone's guess.

Maybe it blew there with the wind, theyโ€™re light as a feather lol. Cool to find one all the way down there!

J, what does the fish scale ring up as on an ATP?

I just did a quick test, and they ring up 75-76 on the ATP. Sometimes they ring up lower depending on how deep they are, and the orientation in the ground.

They ring up a little higher on the Deus, around 80.

I have found many of them close to iron, itโ€™s just a little chirp that makes me want to dig.

I always think it's funny when guys say... "those little nickels are so small, it's amazing you can even find them."

I think that's hilarious, because when you hear them in the Deus headphones, they sound as loud as a harness bell does! :laughing7:

Congrats,
Dave
