Two Silvers today! updated.

Had a 3 hour stint on one of my fields today. A Roman Silver of Geta. 198 - 209 AD. plus A Hammered as yet unidentified. Sadly the Hammered broke in half as l was just looking at it. John.

I would be very much happier to see a group shot of your other finds that day, instead of just the highlights, it gives a much better picture & I can compare it to our sites. Cheers

I totally agree with Crusader. When you're speaking to so many who are trapped in such a young country, ANYTHING you uncover is of great interest to those of us across the pond.

That hammered is still a GREAT find in my book. Wish I could find one, if only for a few moments.<G>

1- spindle whorle.
5 roman bronzes.
1 roman brooch.
1 George 5th halfpenny.
3 buttons1 .
1 flower shaped mount.
1 round mount.
1 pistol handle.(toy)
plus small pieces of lead not pictured.

Thanks much! Cool pieces in the second picture, at least to me. I like the flower-petal piece. Is that that spindle whorle you referred to? Like the little notches on it, as well as the slight oblong hole in the center. Wonder what stories it would tell ...

Spindle whorls are usually made from lead . a stick of wood was through the hole and wool was spun into a thread.using the lead as a flywheel.(l think)

The one with the oblong hole is l think for attaching to leather as a decoration. John.

I knew this would be more interesting (well to me anyway).
You have a very early Navy Button, good find, & a 13-14th C Mount with a 'W' for Wallingham Shrine, worn by pilgrims

Plus 5 bronze to 1 Silver is unusual
